Mtv Music

Music 30 October 2008 | 0 Comments

MtvMusic.com has been fiercely trying to add every music video ever to their site.  According to arstechnica this is in response to YouTube’s similar efforts.  It appears as if MTV is winning.  I think it’s awesome because I can relive amazing videos like this one. Apparently tons of new videos are being added everyday by the MTV crew.

Update:  I love this site!

24 church Newspaper Advertisements

Expression,Graphic Design 29 October 2008 | 0 Comments

I’m the Discipleship Pastor for 24church, but I also manage a lot of other things including the website, the college ministry, and more recently the graphic design work for the church. Here are a few advertisements that we’ve recently run in our local paper to promote a sermon series on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.

My favorite of the ads because the phrase "good in bed" caused controversy amongst the community. I love stupid controversy!

a band some buddies of mine were in

a missions organization a friend started

the college ministry of Temple Baptist Church

a student conference that I helped start while in Memphis

a Dnow poster

t-shirt idea

a poster for an outreach event I used to help put on

I’d had posted all of this stuff on this blog before, but I am reposting it since I’m an idiot and deleted all the previous content.  This is some design work I’ve done from time to time over the last several years.

In a Hip Hop Mood

Music 28 October 2008 | 0 Comments

I’ve been addicted to hip hop lately.  It’s a natural phenomenon, like the universal love of the movie Dumb and Dumber by all men everywhere, that simply effects my consciousness.  It never fails, as time passes I inevitably fall back in love with hip hop.  The current listening includes:  Talib Kweli, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Common, and last but certainly not least:  Lecrae. If you haven’t picked up Rebel, Lecrae’s latest joint, then you are seriously missing out. Lecrae continues to produce inspiring hip hop that pleases both lyrically and musically. My current routine entails listening to Lecrae on the way to church to get ready to worship and sing to God.  Much love to the following tracks:  Rebel Intro, Don’t Waste Your Life, Go Hard, & Change. Admittedly, I’m more into the East Coast sound these days, but Lecrae’s album is so good that it bucks that trend in my listening habits.

Rebel earns 4 & 1/2 cups of coffee!

New Resource for Fighting Pornography

Faith 7 October 2008 | 0 Comments

Mark Driscoll is one of my favorite preachers / writers / pastors these days.  He’s very informed, relevant, and straight forward.  If you didn’t know, Driscoll is the pastor of a church in Seattle known as Mars Hill. He’s written several books and recently launched a new website:  theresurgence.com.  The Resurgence is filled with helpful resources, books, interviews, videos, etc.

I discovered the above resource the other night and thought it was really good.  You should check it out, read it, and direct other men you know to this resource.  This is as straight forward as it gets by the way.
