John Piper

February 22nd, 2009 | Category: Faith,Theology

Andy, my brother, showed me this video back around Thanksgiving, but I’m just now posting it.  All I can say is:  moving.  Every time I watch this clip I nearly tear up, but it’s awesome.  I’m thankful for the voice of John Piper to the American church.  In my opinion there is no more important theologian / pastor alive today than John Piper.

Our church is about to start a new series on the book of Daniel and I’ve been working on a graphic for the series.  This is the final result, which I’m pretty happy with.  This is the first time I’ve experimented with a “hand-drawn” style.

FruitCake & Ice Cream – Louie Giglio

February 21st, 2009 | Category: Faith

picture-21

This is old news if you got to attend the Passion World Tour, or if you’ve already bought the dvd, but Louie Giglio’s message “Fruit Cake and Ice Cream” is pretty amazing.  In classic Giglio style, Louie delivers a message that is soooooo simple, but extremely moving.  Louie has a way of delivering a message that allows the Word of God to speak and sing and shout for itself.  If the word of God isn’t moving us, it is because our hearts are hardened, not because the truth of God isn’t earth-shattering.  Anyway, this message is just like that, but it ends with a true story that brings everything into palable focus.  This dvd is worth the 54 minutes of your time that it takes to watch, and worth the $16 or so dollars you need to cough up to own a copy.

I love Mark Driscoll

February 21st, 2009 | Category: Faith

I’m in the midst of fighting through some books / materials that I just don’t know what to think about (or actually I do know what I think about them and it disturbs me).  Anyway, you’ll see the reviews on those books at some point on this blog.  BUT…I love Mark Driscoll.  He shoots straight as an arrow, is thoroughly biblical, and is trying to reach a generation of disenfranchised people.  This is a clip of him bringing the thunder on CNN.

Exciting News from Passion

February 18th, 2009 | Category: Faith,Music

I just got on 268generation.com today, it’d been a while, and saw several exciting updates.  Passion 2010 has been anounced, it will be in Atlanta.  Christy Nockles is now on SixSteps records and has a new album coming out.  You can get a free download of her latest single on her website (click below). And details about the church that Passion/Louie Giglio is starting have emerged.  As I’ve said before, God has especially used Passion events in my life to deeply influence me, and I’m always excited to see that latest news about what is going on.
